CHOREOGRAPHY
I am passionate about dance and passionate about expression.
I believe people are born to dance because it sometimes makes up for the lack of words or transcends the energy of words. It allows us to let go of some of our prejudices, we can communicate and share with our bodies, and to be honest in our movement.
I'm always experimenting with what our bodies can do for us. Create some language-like movements of the body. In today's convergence of art forms and increasingly blurred boundaries, when one stands in a space, expression is already there.
I've been fortunate to work with many professional dancers and a wide variety of people with no dance background. It is undeniable that no matter who you are, the body is like a mirror that reflects one's individuality and routines. This makes me even more curious about what drives people to speak to their bodies about what they are worried and concerned abut at the moment.
It wasn't patterns or techniques that allowed me to start choreographing, it was sensations. It was the journey of the person who came to me that really inspired me. I build stories to challenge people's perceptions of dance, and I want the audience to feel moved and amused, and perhaps empathised with.
